How was the Day of the Red Guara and the White-tailed Deer born?

The Day of the Red Guara and the White-tailed Deer was instituted as a measure to conserve the national fauna and above all, the environment of the excessive depression. Thus, the Red Guara was declared a national bird of our country on June 28, 1993 through Legislative Decree 36. The White-tailed Deer , on the other hand, was declared a national mammal by the National Congress through Executive Decree 336-39 of the month June 1993.

These animals have truly spectacular characteristics. The Red Guara has a beautiful plumage of bright colors such as yellow, red and blue. It lives in tall trees and is characterized by a long pointed tail.

The White-tailed Deer is a mammal that lives throughout all the departments of Honduras . It is an active animal during the day and is one of the favorite species of hunters, so it is urgent to protect it before it becomes extinct.
